CONGRATULATIONS!
The 2007 $500.00 GKCAA Scholarship winner is Paul Jason Crow, a senior
from
Lee’s Summit
, who will be attending
Missouri
State
University
. His main focus is portraiture and the committee agreed
unanimously that he is our tremendously talented winner. I spoke
to him to verify that he had received our congratulatory letter and the
scholarship check. He was off to school the Friday early in August
and I wished him success in his college career and extended an
invitation to attend a GKCAA meeting whenever he is back in town on the
second Monday of the month.

The Greater Kansas City Art
Association is a non-profit organization that has actively promoted the
appreciation of visual arts in the Kansas City area by providing art
exhibits and services to the public. It was founded in 1956 by a group
of local artists with the idea of bringing together as
many of those local artists as possible to promote an exchange of
thoughts and techniques and to be able to approach the public as a
unified group of professionals.
The association meets every second Monday of
the month at Valley View Methodist Church, 9405 Woodward, Overland Park,
KS (near 95th and Antioch). Meetings are informative and fun. We usually
have a guest speaker who lectures with a slide presentation or
demonstration. The Association presents an annual art show each year at
the Metcalf South Shopping Center in Overland Park. There are over two
hundred artists in the Association who work in all media such as
watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, mixed media and sculpture. Many of the
members are known nationally and compete in national shows throughout
the country winning awards while doing so.
GKCAA wants to share with the public the
enjoyment and excitement of the visual arts in this region. The services
and activities of GKCAA are available to all persons regardless of race,
color, creed, ethnic background or religious affiliation.
